The Brooklyn Museum Announces Public Programs in October for Visitors of All Ages

The Brooklyn Museum announces its lineup of October programming, including Fall Fête: Monet and Venice and Seydou Keïta, celebrating our newest exhibitions; Brooklyn Talks: Oliver Jeffers and Mary Annaïse Heglar, exploring an immersive installation in the Toby Devan Lewis Education Center; and Fall into Art: A Family Festival. Additional programs and special events amplify the Museum’s exhibitions and collections, serve the surrounding community, and support learning through the visual arts.

Museum Members enjoy complimentary or discounted tickets and early access to public programs.

Music: Falsa

Saturday, October 4, 2–4 pm

Experience a Saturday afternoon performance by Falsa, an NYC-based Sufi musical ensemble. Featuring Sufi vocals, Carnatic violin, Hindustani tabla, Bass VI, harmonium, and drums, Falsa’s sound explores longing, presence, and joy.

Brooklyn Pop-Up Market

Sundays, October 5–November 16, 10:30 am–5:30 pm

Stop by our market to shop one-of-a-kind, handmade items from local artisans. This weekly event features more than 30 vendors offering artwork, jewelry, fashion, home and apothecary goods, and more.

Brooklyn Talks: Oliver Jeffers and Mary Annaïse Heglar

Monday, October 6, 6–7:30 pm

Tickets are $25 and include after-hours access to Oliver Jeffers: Life at Sea.

Dive into our interactive exhibition Oliver Jeffers: Life at Sea during an evening of conversation and storytelling. An author and visual artist working across painting, bookmaking, illustration, performance, and sculpture, Oliver Jeffers animates his practice with curiosity and humor. He is joined in conversation by Mary Annaïse Heglar, a New Orleans–based author known for essays exploring the climate crisis and environmental grief.

Copies of Jeffers’s latest children’s book, I’m Very Busy, will be available for purchase, and the program is followed by a book signing.

Fall Fête: Monet and Venice and Seydou Keïta

Thursday, October 9, 8–11 pm

Advance tickets are $30 and include after-hours access to Monet and Venice, Seydou Keïta: A Tactile Lens, and Oliver Jeffers: Life at Sea (last entry: 9:30 pm). Tickets at the door are $40.

Journey from Italy to Mali as we celebrate the opening of Monet and Venice and Seydou Keïta: A Tactile Lens. This special evening features live music, artist activations, and late-night access to the galleries.

Don’t miss DJ sets by Amber Valentine and Sabine Blaizin, music by kora player Mahrïama-SpicyKhasso, and dance and drum performances presented in partnership with the Cumbe Center for African and Diaspora Dance. The lineup also includes drag artist Dollar Slice, an opera singer, and more. Plus, enjoy artist-created photo booths inspired by Monet’s and Keïta’s work, along with a specialty cocktail and food from neighborhood staples Cafe Rue Dix and Gnocchi on 9th.

Weekend Art: Sunday Art Hang

Bring the family to explore our galleries and exhibitions, from ancient Egyptian masterpieces to contemporary artworks. At this free drop-in program, held on select Sundays, you’ll look closely at an object and create art inspired by the work.

Fall into Art: A Family Festival

Celebrate the season, including Día de los Muertos and Halloween, with a day of art-making, music, storytelling, and coloring book giveaways. Families and visitors of all ages are invited to explore our fall exhibitions through workshops, tours, and activities that honor global traditions of creativity, memory, and connection. Costumes are encouraged!

Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra: Adams, Roussel, Sachse, and Strauss

Advance tickets are available through the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra at $20 for adults 65+ and Museum Members and $20 for non-Members; same-day tickets are $25 at the door. Free for ages 16 and under.

The Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra opens its 52nd season with a concert of music by four dynamic composers, led by Artistic Director Emeritus Nick Armstrong.

Brooklyn Mornings: Art and the City

Individuals with memory loss and their care partners are invited to explore art highlighting New York City life past and present, on view in Breaking the Mold: Brooklyn Museum at 200. Plus, express yourself through art-making, and relax and enjoy one another’s company.

Magic: Nicole Cardoza in Revival

Enter the mesmerizing world of magician Nicole Cardoza in her hour-long performance Revival. In this narrative-driven show, Cardoza reflects on her ancestry, highlighting the underacknowledged history of Black and women magicians. Combining creative illusions with storytelling, she brings together the art of stage magic and the work of social justice.
