    FAQs

    • When can I schedule a private, on-site film or photo shoot at the Museum?

Film and photo shoots can be held on days and times that the Museum is closed to the public (Mondays and Tuesdays, or before or after 11 am–6 pm the rest of the week), subject to availability.

    • Where in the Museum can I film?

Filming locations can be organized in many areas in and around the Museum, including nonpublic spaces, subject to scope and project/script approval. Note that due to copyright restrictions, the Museum cannot accommodate filming in special exhibitions.

    • What are the location fees?

Location fees will vary depending on the shoot type (still or video, commercial or nonprofit), spaces activated for filming and/or holding, size of the crew, and length of the shoot day. A Museum staffing fee will be quoted and billed separately according to final needs.

    • How far in advance do I need to schedule the shoot?

The Brooklyn Museum is abuzz with activity. Aim to reach out at least 2–3 months in advance of your shoot. Of course, the Museum is happy to entertain inquiries with shorter lead times.

    • Do I need insurance?

In addition to signing a shoot agreement, the client must obtain a certificate of insurance for $1 million in the aggregate, listing the Brooklyn Museum and the City of New York as certificate holders.
