LGBTQ+ Teen Night: Past, Presence, and Future

Friday, June 6, 5–7:30 pm

Celebrate art, queer activism, identity, and allyship in our 12th annual LGBTQ+ Teen Night! Created by and for teens, the evening will be full of art-making, performances, and much more.

Free; registration is encouraged. Open to all LGBTQ+ teens and their allies ages 14–19. Follow #bkmteens on Instagram and Facebook for more details.

LGBTQ+ Teen Night is organized by InterseXtions, our paid LGBTQ+ teen internship in queer art history and community programming.

  • 5–6 pm

    Gallery activities
    Join InterseXtions teen staff in Toward Joy for a self-guided scavenger hunt and letter-writing to your future self. Then, attend a teen-moderated talk with Stephanie Sparling Williams, Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Curator of American Art, about the presence of queerness in the American Art collection.
  • 5:30–7:15 pm

    Art-making and food
    Enjoy free snacks, create your own kaleidoscopic jewelry, play queer history trivia for prizes, take cute Polaroids in our photo booth, respond to the talkback wall, and more.
  • 6–7:30 pm

    Performances
    Close out the evening with performances by Um Jennifer?, Grace Period, Regi Angelou, Kyrah Baskin, and DJ 444. Plus, share your own talents at an open mic!
