The Brooklyn Museum Announces Public Programs in July for Visitors of All Ages

The Brooklyn Museum announces its lineup of July programming, including Teen Pop-Up Talks, the weekly Brooklyn Pop-Up Market, a Museum on Wheels stop in Coney Island for City of Water Day, and Summer Jazz hosted in the lobby. Additional programs and special events amplify the Museum’s exhibitions and collections, serve the surrounding community, and support learning through the visual arts.

Museum Members enjoy complimentary or discounted tickets and early access to public programs.

Brooklyn Pop-Up Market

Sundays, July 6–27, 10:30 am–5:30 pm
Plaza, 1st Floor
Free and open to the public.

Stop by our market to shop one-of-a-kind, handmade items from local artisans. This weekly event features more than 30 vendors offering artwork, jewelry, fashion, home and apothecary goods, and more.

Teen Pop-Up Talks

Wednesdays and Thursdays, July 9–10, 16–17, 23–24, and 30, 2–3 pm

Free with Museum admission.

Join teen staff from our Museum Apprentice Program to learn about works in galleries dedicated to Ancient Egyptian Art, Decorative Arts and Design, and Toward Joy: New Frameworks for American Art. Each conversation is repeated every 15 minutes.

Outdoor Art-Making with BkM Teens

Wednesdays, July 9–30, 3:30–5:30 pm
Plaza, 1st Floor (rain location: Education Center, 1st Floor)
Free and open to the public. Supplies are limited; first come, first served.

Drop by our outdoor plaza this summer to join our teen Museum Apprentices in an art-making activity. Each project will be inspired by works in the collection. Bring the whole family to express your creativity.

Museum on Wheels: Coney Island

Saturday, July 12, 10 am–2 pm
Kaiser Park, 3161 Bayview Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11224
Free and open to the public. Space is limited for all art-making activities; first come, first served. In case of rain, this stop will be rescheduled to Sunday, July 13, 10 am–2 pm.

Head to Coney Island for City of Water Day, filled with engaging art activities cohosted by our new Museum on Wheels! Conceived in partnership with the Brooklyn community, this mobile museum can pull up anywhere in Brooklyn with touchable selections from our collection of teaching objects—plus plenty of fun. All ages are welcome to express your creativity and enjoy art-making, games, and giveaways.

Summer Jazz

Sunday, July 20, 2–4 pm
Lobby, 1st Floor
Free. Reserve tickets to visit the galleries.

Stop by the Museum’s lobby for performances by some of the city’s most acclaimed jazz musicians, whose creative styles incorporate blues, roots, and international sounds. Presented in partnership with Jazz Foundation of America.

Pop-Up Performances: Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra

Sunday, July 27, 2–4 pm

Free with Museum admission.

Drop by to hear music selections performed by members of the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra, the Museum’s orchestra in residence.
