A Close Look (Ages 65+): Seydou Keïta

Tuesday, January 13, 2026, 11 am–12:30 pm

Older adults (ages 65+) are invited to encounter bold yet sensitive work by Seydou Keïta, the premier studio photographer of 20th-century Africa. Witness how Keïta’s sitters in Bamako, Mali, tell a story of profound political and social transformation through their choices of backdrops, accessories, and apparel.

Held while the Museum is closed to the public, these fully accessible tours are thoughtfully paced with special features such as music and poetry, as well as close looking and conversation about art.

Free; registration is required.
