The Brooklyn Museum Announces Public Programs in June for Visitors of All Ages

The Brooklyn Museum announces its lineup of June programming, including a Brooklyn Talks with photographers Tyler Mitchell and Qiana Mestrich, whose work is inspired by Consuelo Kanaga’s; First Saturday: Star-Makers, featuring trailblazing queer artists; and Weekend Art: Summer Print Jam. Additional programs and special events amplify the Museum’s exhibitions and collections, serve the surrounding community, and support learning through the visual arts.

Museum Members enjoy complimentary or discounted tickets and early access to public programs.

Brooklyn Pop-Up Market

Free and open to the public.

Stop by our market to shop one-of-a-kind, handmade items from local artisans. This weekly event features more than 30 vendors offering artwork, jewelry, fashion, home and apothecary goods, and more.

LGBTQ+ Teen Night: Past, Presence, and Future

Free; registration is encouraged. Open to all LGBTQ+ teens and their allies ages 14–19.

Celebrate art, queer activism, identity, and allyship in our 12th annual LGBTQ+ Teen Night! Created by and for teens, the evening will be full of art-making, performances, and much more.

First Saturday: Star-Makers

Join us for a lineup of trailblazing queer artists who shine across mediums, from film and music to drag and visual art. Inspired by Oscar yi Hou’s The Arm Wrestle of Chip & Spike; aka: Star-Makers, June’s First Saturday celebrates luminaries who forge constellations of connection among queer Brooklynites.

Bring the family to explore our galleries and exhibitions, from ancient Egyptian masterpieces to contemporary artworks. At the June edition of this free drop-in program, you’ll look closely at an object in Toward Joy: New Frameworks for American Art and create art inspired by the work.

Brooklyn Talks: Tyler Mitchell and Qiana Mestrich

Take a closer look at the special exhibition Consuelo Kanaga: Catch the Spirit through conversations with contemporary photographers Tyler Mitchell and Qiana Mestrich, who take inspiration from Kanaga’s work.

Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra: Opera Selections and Tchaikovsky

Advance tickets are available through the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra at $15 for adults 65+ and Museum Members and $20 for non-Members; same-day tickets are $25 at the door. Free for ages 16 and under.

The Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra’s 51st season concludes with a program exploring the theme of fate, led by guest conductor Felipe Tristán.

Juneteenth Jubilee

ASL Tour: Breaking the Mold

Visitors from the D/deaf community are invited to experience Breaking the Mold: Brooklyn Museum at 200 in an American Sign Language (ASL) tour, led by a Deaf teaching artist.
