The Brooklyn Museum Announces Public Programs in February for Visitors of All Ages

The Brooklyn Museum announces its lineup of February programming, including the year’s first edition of First Saturdays, a Lunar New Year celebration ringing in the Year of the Horse, and a Valentine’s Day program for couples, friends, or individuals.Additional programs and special events amplify the Museum’s exhibitions and collections, serve the surrounding community, and support learning through the visual arts.

Museum Members enjoy complimentary or discounted tickets and early access to public programs.

First Saturday: Imitate No One

Saturday, February 7, 5–10 pm
Throughout the Museum
Free; registration is required and includes Museum general admission. Tickets are released on a rolling basis. Sign up for the Brooklyn Museum newsletter to be notified of the next release.

In celebration of Black History Month, this edition of First Saturday pays homage to fearless artists who reenvision tradition. Enjoy a dynamic lineup of music, magic, art-making, poetry, and more.

Salsa Party

Thursday, February 12, 6–9:30 pm
Lobby, 1st Floor
Free; registration is encouraged. Admission is limited and first come, first served. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.

Celebrate the return of our Salsa Party series with a dance-filled evening hosted by Balmir Dance Society. Kick off the evening with a lesson led by professional dancers at 6 pm, followed by live music, social dancing, and performances by the borough’s best Latin dance teams.

Drop-In Workshops: Life at Sea

Saturdays–Sundays, February 14–15 and 28, 11 am–5:30 pm; Wednesdays–Fridays, February 18–20, 12–4 pm

Free with Museum admission. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Take a deep dive into Oliver Jeffers: Life at Sea and help expand this underwater world. During these drop-in workshops, bring the family to create colorful creatures and structures. Each afternoon centers on designing new ocean life, from coral to 3D fish, to add to Life at Sea.

For the Love of Art

Make it more than a Hallmark holiday: Spend a romantic, platonic, or restorative solo Valentine’s Day at the Brooklyn Museum. Enjoy a variety of art- and poetry-centered activities perfect for couples, friends, or individuals. Explore at your own pace, spark conversation, and discover playful ways to connect and create.

Weekend Art: Saturday Sketch Club

Egyptian Galleries, 3rd Floor
Free with Museum admission. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Draw inspiration from sculptures in our Egyptian Galleries. Create sketches of works that reveal a variety of relationships among ancient Egyptians.

Lunar New Year Celebration

Celebrate the Year of the Horse—one of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac—with lively performances and hands-on activities for all ages.

Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra: De Falla and Dvořák

Sunday, February 15, 2–4 pm

Advance tickets are available through the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra at $25 for standard admission and $20 for adults 65+ (excluding fees); same-day tickets are $30 at the door. Free for ages 16 and under.

Step into worlds both folkloric and symphonic at this concert conducted by BSO Artistic Director Felipe Tristán.

Poetry Workshop: Rubin Museum Tibetan Buddhist Shrine Room

Contemplate our Asian Art collection and the Rubin Museum Tibetan Buddhist Shrine Room, and follow your poetic instincts. Join Tsering Wangmo Dhompa, associate professor of literature and creative writing at Villanova University, for this generative creative-writing experience.

Stroller Tours: Everyday Rebellions

Tickets are $38 (per family; 1 adult, 1 child) and include Museum general admission. Adults can be added for $16 each.

Before the Museum opens to the public, enjoy an interactive tour of Everyday Rebellions: Collection Conversations, showcasing how contemporary artists infuse daily life with gestures of creative defiance. Designed for children up to 24 months old, this program features touchable objects, songs, and engaging explorations of artworks.

Family Concerts: Lilli and the Firebird
